The strategic solution
In 2015, San-iT implemented a new on-site server at Organon which reached the end of its usable life in 2020. The agreed route forward was to opt for a cloud hosted server instead of a considerable up-front cost to replace hardware on site.
The existing server ran virtualised servers, making the migration a far more seamless process. The new server was setup to meet the exact needs of Organon at present and all existing systems were migrated up to the cloud, including their bespoke software suite.
All staff were set up with a virtual desktop within the cloud. The users now have a familiar desktop experience no matter what device they choose to connect in with.
Organon now have a fully managed cloud hosted server, which in turn can be scaled up or down month to month if the requirements of the business change. This solution mitigates upfront expense to replace the entire infrastructure and instead carries a recurring monthly fee.
- The hosted server boasts an uptime of 99.95% with automated failover to a mirrored server in the event of an issue. Within minutes the server specification can be changed to meet the needs of the business.
- The new system is far more secure and there is now no server hardware to worry about in the office. All of the staff now work directly from the server, so performance and consistency has vastly improved.
