San-iT Wellbeing Week
We’ve all had an unexpected and often challenging 18 months. Whether it’s been from a business perspective, or from an individual perspective, COVID-19 created situations which stretched the limits of individuals and teams globally.
Here at San-iT, we believe that our employees are our most valuable asset, and we are always looking at new initiatives centred around their wellbeing. After all, a happy team means happy clients.
This is where San-iT Wellbeing Week comes in. In the last week of September, we ran a week of activities dedicated to helping our employees to increase their wellbeing not only at work, but at home too.
On Monday, we started out with a healthy breakfast for the whole team, followed up by a lunchtime walk around the beautiful Bruntwood Park in Cheadle Hulme, led by our Technical Director Matt Simmons. Connecting with nature and getting some much-needed sunshine and fresh air gave the team a real lift, and it was great to be able to experience this as a team.
Tuesday was a chance for certain members of our team to show off their baking skills, and the rest of us to show off our cake-eating skills! We hosted a bake-off challenge, which was unsurprisingly well-attended, with prizes given out for the high-quality bakes on display.
The best bake prize was awarded to one of our new apprentices, Alysia Smethurst, who baked a tray of delicious brownies that didn’t last long at all. Our accounts assistant Emma also baked up a storm, creating an iced Victoria sponge with our logo on top, winning best presentation in the process. Congratulations to Alysia and Emma, and all our budding bakers!
After all that cake, what better way to unwind than with a massage? The team could book individual appointments with a massage therapist to help work out some of the knots that can come with a busy lifestyle and everyday stresses.
Wednesday’s session was an opportunity for the team to learn some vital skills in the form of a first aid training session. Lots of fun was had, but just as importantly, the team learned really important and valuable life-saving skills too.
On Thursday, we hosted a stress management workshop with Martin Murphy to help our team learn techniques on how to reduce stress and increase wellbeing at work and at home. Self-care has never been more important, and we know that the team and benefited from enjoyed this session.
Finally, on Friday several of our team took part in a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) session hosted by our very own fitness guru, Alex Owen. Alex put us through our paces with a circuit designed to get the blood pumping and the feel-good endorphins going. Early morning exercise really energised the team, although a few of us didn’t feel like that in the immediate aftermath! A big thank you to Alex for running this.
We had a great time planning and running Wellbeing Week here at San-iT.
